Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. There’s nothing to sign up for and no password to manage — newmonth uses your Apple Account for iCloud sync. Nothing to breach, nothing to remember.
Can I have multiple budgets or currencies?
Yes. Keep separate budgets — say personal and business — each with its own currency, and switch between them in a tap.
Privacy & data
Is my data private?
Yes — by design. newmonth has no account and no bank connections. Your budget lives on your iPhone and syncs only through your own iCloud; there is no newmonth server in the middle, and the developer can’t see your data.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No. newmonth never links to your bank. You add transactions manually or import a statement (CSV, OFX/QFX, CAMT or a YNAB export) — so you plan on purpose, and nothing about your accounts is shared with anyone.
Sync & devices
Does it sync across my devices?
Yes. newmonth syncs through your own iCloud (CloudKit), so your budget stays up to date across your iPhones — with no account to create.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Your budget is stored on your device, so newmonth works fully offline. When you’re back online, your changes sync through your iCloud.
Can I share a budget?
Yes. You can share a budget through iCloud with anyone you invite — a partner, family, roommates — and everyone edits it from their own device. Share as many budgets as you like, each with its own group, and your data still never touches a newmonth server.
Pricing
How much does newmonth cost?
newmonth is free while it’s in early release — everything included. From 1.0 it becomes a paid app: $14.99 a year or $1.99 a month, or $44.99 once for lifetime access — and everyone who joins during early release keeps full access free for 3 more months after 1.0. One tier, everything included — no ads, nothing to upsell, and your data is never sold.
Importing
Which banks or files can I import?
Any bank — because you import files, not credentials. newmonth reads CSV (with column mapping and remembered profiles), OFX/QFX, CAMT (ISO 20022, SEPA) and YNAB exports, with duplicate detection and a “needs review” step.
Platform
Is it iPhone only?
Yes, for now. newmonth is built for iPhone (iOS 26 and later) in SwiftUI, so it feels like a native Apple app, and the first release is iPhone-only. There’s no Android or web version; that focus is what keeps it fast, private and Apple-native.
Is there an iPad version?
Not yet. The first release targets iPhone only, so every screen can be designed and tested properly on one device instead of shipping a stretched layout. You can still install newmonth on an iPad, where it runs as the scaled iPhone app. A real iPad version is planned — it ships once it’s had a proper design pass, and there’s no date to promise yet.
