These terms govern your use of the newmonth website and the newmonth app for iPhone. They are written to be readable; nothing here takes away rights you have under mandatory consumer law where you live.

Acceptance of these terms
By using the newmonth website or app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use newmonth.
The service
newmonth is a zero-based budgeting app for iPhone, requiring iOS 26 or later. Your data is stored on your device and synced through your own iCloud account; newmonth has no account system and does not host your budget data. The website is an informational site about the app.
newmonth is currently in early release: the app is complete and safe to use, but still being polished, and features may change on the way to 1.0. The app is free during early release; what happens when early release ends is described on the pricing page.
Purchases and subscriptions
newmonth is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store. Any paid plan, trial, price, billing period, and renewal term is the one shown on the newmonth App Store listing and in the app at the moment of purchase — that listing governs, and we do not restate the figures here so that they cannot fall out of date.
All purchases are made with and managed by Apple through your App Store account. Apple handles billing, renewals, and refunds under Apple’s own terms; we never see your payment details. You can view, manage, or cancel any subscription in your App Store account settings, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Your statutory rights of withdrawal and any refund rights under applicable consumer law remain unaffected. Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple.
Your data and backups
You are responsible for the data you enter and for keeping your own backups. newmonth can export your full budget as a backup archive or CSV at any time, and we recommend you do so periodically. Because we operate no server and hold no copy of your data, we cannot restore it for you if it is lost from your device and your iCloud.
Acceptable use
Use newmonth lawfully. Do not attempt to interfere with or disrupt the app or website, circumvent the paid features, or use the service to infringe someone else’s rights. Where applicable law gives you a right to reverse-engineer software for interoperability, that right is unaffected.
Intellectual property
The newmonth name, the app, and the content of this website are owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark law. Your right to use the app — whether during a free period or under a purchase — is a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence; it does not transfer ownership. The budget data you create is, and remains, entirely yours.
Not financial advice
newmonth is a budgeting tool, not a financial adviser. Nothing in the app or on this website is financial, tax, investment, or legal advice, and no figure the app shows is a recommendation. You are responsible for your own financial decisions, and for checking your own numbers against your bank’s records.
Warranty and liability
We take real care with newmonth, but no software is free of defects, and we cannot guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will suit any particular purpose of yours. Your statutory warranty rights under applicable consumer law apply in full and are not limited by these terms.
We are liable without limitation for damages arising from injury to life, body or health, from intent or gross negligence, and under any applicable product liability law. For breaches of an essential contractual obligation through slight negligence, our liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Any further liability is excluded.
Changes to the service and these terms
We may update the app and this website over time, including changing or discontinuing features. If we change these terms we will revise the date above and highlight material changes; where a change materially disadvantages you, we will give you reasonable notice and you may stop using the service.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you have your habitual residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected.
