Cashflow

Cashflow shows the money that came in and went out each month, as a pair of bars. On the Insights tab, tap the card to see your whole history. Pick a range above the chart.

Read the chart

  • Touch the chart and slide your finger to read a single month. The amounts show at the top of the chart.
  • Tap Income or Spent below the chart to see only that series. Tap it again to see both.
  • The current month is dimmed. It is not finished, so the figures below leave it out.
  • A month with a negative figure draws its bar at zero. The amounts at the top of the chart show the real figure.

The figures

All of these use the complete months in the selected range.

  • Avg net / month: the average of income minus spending. It shows what you gain or lose in a normal month.
  • Avg Income and Avg Spent: what came in and what went out in an average month.
  • Net Total: income minus spending, added up over the range.
  • Best Month: the month where income minus spending was highest.

What counts as income

Income is the money that landed in To Assign, the money you have not planned yet. Money that came in without a category counts too. Money taken out of To Assign lowers it. Transfers between your own budget accounts don't count.

What counts as spending

Spent is what your categories show: purchases minus refunds. Spending without a category counts too. So do transfers to a tracking account with a category. A tracking account only follows a value, like an investment. So a high month can mean investing, not overspending. See How Insights works .

Good to know

Ignore One-Offs changes only Avg net / month, Avg Income and Avg Spent. The bars, Net Total and Best Month stay the same, because they show what really happened.
