How Insights works
The Insights tab shows what happened with your money. It also shows what this means for the next months. Tap a card with to see more months.
The cards
- This Month: what you spent so far, your Income, and the Net (income minus spending). Spending is what your categories show. Income is what went into To Assign, plus money that came in without a category. If more came back than you spent, the spending is below zero. Categories on track counts the categories you assigned money to or spent from this month and shows how many of them aren't overspent.
- Where It Went: your spending by category, with the five biggest named. See Where It Went .
- Cashflow: money in and money out for each month. See Cashflow .
- Did You Know?: small facts about your habits, like days with no spending. Swipe to see more.
- Category Trends: how much your biggest categories cost in an average month. See Category Trends .
- Net Worth: what you own minus what you owe. See Net Worth .
- Months Ahead: how many months your money would last if you keep spending the same. See Months Ahead .
What counts as spending
These don't count as spending:
- Transfers between your own budget accounts.
- Money in tracking accounts outside the budget, like an investment or a mortgage.
- Transactions planned for a future date.
- Starting balances and adjustments from reconciling.
Transfers into a tracking account count as spending when they have a category; one left in To Assign lowers your income. A refund lowers its category's spending. Months Ahead counts all money going out, so refunds never add months. Net Worth counts everything.
A very large payment can make your averages look wrong for months. To leave it out, see Ignore One-Offs .
