Where It Went

Where It Went shows your spending by category. On the Insights tab, tap the card. Tap Month to look at one month, or Preset for a longer period like Last 3 Months. Then tap the button below them to pick the month or period.

The color strip

The strip shows how your spending is shared out. The five biggest categories each get a color. Everything else is gray. The strip runs in the same order as the list, so the first band is the first row.

The total

The total is your spending minus Money Back. When there is money back, a line below the total shows both amounts. The percent next to a category is its share of spending before that subtraction.

The rows

  • Each category shows its amount and its percent.
  • Money Back lists categories that got more back than they spent in this period, like after a big refund.
  • Category Needed is spending with no category yet.
  • Tap any row to see its transactions for this period.

A category's transaction list isn't a receipt for the figure you tapped. It can also show transactions planned for later in this period and transactions on tracking accounts. A split transaction shows at its full amount, even when only part of it is in this category. Refunds are rows of their own. So the amounts may not add up to the figure. Nothing is wrong.

Good to know

  • This screen always opens on the current month.
  • A Preset period counts back from today and includes the current month, even though it is not finished.
  • See How Insights works for what counts as spending.
