Ignore One-Offs
A one-off is an unusually large amount in one category in one month, like paying off a car. It can make your averages look wrong for months. You can leave these amounts out of the averages.
Turn it on or off
- On the Insights tab, tap .
- Tap Ignore One-Offs.
To undo it, tap Include One-Offs. This setting is only for this device.
How the app decides
The app looks at a category's spending in one month. All three must be true:
- It is a quarter or more of that month's spending.
- It is at least a quarter of what you spend in a normal month.
- It is at least three times this category's normal amount, or the category is too new to have a normal amount.
The app needs 6 months of history first. Normal costs like rent and food usually stay in.
What changes
- Months Ahead: only the average spending. Your cash stays the same, because that money is really gone.
- Category Trends: the averages and percent badges.
- Cashflow: Avg net / month, Avg Income and Avg Spent.
A short note on the screen names what was left out.
What never changes
- The bars on Cashflow and Category Trends.
- Net Total and Best Month.
- Where It Went, Net Worth and This Month.
- Your transactions.
Ignore One-Offs only changes guesses about the future. Your transactions and the numbers for past months stay the same.
Good to know
- You can't pick individual payments. The app leaves out the category's whole amount for that month. If it guesses wrong, turn it off.
- A new regular cost can be flagged in its first months, like rent after a move. Those months stay flagged.
- A large transfer with no category, or one left in To Assign, can also be flagged. The note calls it Transfers.
