Add a transaction
A transaction is one payment out or one payment in. Most need only an amount, a payee and a category.
Steps
- Tap at the bottom right. It is on the Home, Budget and Transactions tabs, and inside each account.
- Add Transaction opens. At the top, pick Expense for money out or Income for money in.
- Type the amount.
- Tap Payee and type who you paid. Names you used before appear as buttons below the field.
- Tap a name to use it. Its last category and account are filled in for you. A new name gets a button to create it.
- Check the Category: the part of your plan this money comes from. Tap it to change it, or to make a New Category.
- Check the Account and the Date. Tap the date to open a calendar.
- Tap to save.
There is no decimal key. The amount fills in from the right: type 4, 2, 5, 0 to get 42.50.
Add up an amount
A receipt can have several parts. The app can add them for you.
- Tap above the number keys. The keys and appear. On an iPad, they're already at the right end of the bar above the keyboard.
- Type a number, tap a key, then type the next number.
- The total so far shows above the amount. You can add as many steps as you like.
- Tap to see the result. Or just save: the app works out the total.
Good to know
- Use Add a note… for a short note. The colored dots under Mark help you find the row later.
- Cleared means your bank already shows it. Each account learns your habit: choose the other way three times in a row, and it starts that way.
- A future date, or a choice under Recurring, schedules the transaction for later. See Schedule a repeating transaction .
- No category yet? When you save, tap Save Without Category. It waits as Category Needed for later.
